What Makes a Man “HOT”?

hot man, romanceOkay, let’s get right down to it – what is a hot man?

Many women reading this immediately flash on to a guy they, ahem, admire: Brad Pitt, Tom Brady, Bradley Cooper, Robert Downey Jr., George Clooney.

What do these guys have that earn them the status of HOT?

Or, to put it another way, which guys in your life would you call McSteamy or McDreamy?

With the help of my family photo album (full of spouse, son, brother, son-in-law, nephews, cousins), I’ve come up with 15 reasons a guy makes it in my “oh la la” considerations.

1. Romantic

romance, sex, marriage, beach shadow

 2. Athletic

brother, hot man, plank on the beach

3. Smart

graduation, hot man, nephew

4. Conqueror of Nature

nature, snow, winter, shoveling, conqueror,

5. Sense of Humor

sense of humor, gobble, Thanksgiving, father and son

6. Not Afraid to Sip Girly Drinks

girly drinks, nephew, hot guy, cafe

7. Good Dancer

dancing, grandfather, baby dancing

8. Cooks for a Crowd, or Just the Two of You

cook, brother, cooking for a crowd

9. Good Appetite

son, brunch, Berkeley restaurant, good eater

10. Helps Babes in Distress

Father and son, nap time, at the beach

11. Captains the Seas

sea captain, sailing, sailing on the San Francisco Bay, brother

12. Enjoys being a “hot” dog

hot dog, beach dog, Ocean City

13. Loves Babies

son-in-law, fathering, baby love

14. Lifeguards on the Beach

grandfathering, grandson, beach, Hawaii

15. Cuddles Cousins

cousin love, nephew, baby

As a writer of romantic suspense, I create men who embody these 15 characteristics. In my “hot” off-the-press, just released e-book, Twin Desires, main character Sandra must figure out who is the good guy, and who isn’t, in a thrilling story of intrigue, murder, mystery,  and romance.

The Sinclair twins may look alike, but one is “hot” in the best sense, one is not. Can Sandra figure out which one is her “McDreamy”? Download Twin Desires on your Kindle or Nook.  Remembering my 15 points of hot men, you may figure it out before Sandra does.

    • Ohh, if I’d thought of it, I would have definitely added ‘temperature- taker of bathwater’ – good one. Let’s see, which 4 does not describe you? I guess #6 and 11. Otherwise, you’re probably being too modest.

  1. What makes a man hot…hmm. Don’t try to tell me how I feel. Respect me. Allow me alone time. Understand that I might have my own opinion. Love of family, children, and grandchildren. And don’t ever, ever try to take me away from my grandchildren. No bigotry. Must like to read and must like to read my short stories (or at least support my desire to write). And when you asked the question, I immediately thought of Sean Connery. He’s old, but then so am I!

    • Ahhh, Sean Connery (did I ever mention that I named my son…Sean?? – I think you know the reason). Another trait I thought of is “Musical.” But no one in our family has a tiny bit of musical talent. But show me a guy playing sax, and I’ll, well, never mind.

  2. Wonderful words adorably illustrated:-) Hmmm, there’s also something about letting me be me, and not caring how I dress! Otherwise…I think you’ve about got it covered. Congratulations on the new book!

  4. My hubby won’t sip a girly drink and can’t dance to save his life. But he’s mostly there! *grins*

Love the list, and what an enticing pitch it makes for the new book. Congrats on the new novel!

    • Yeah, my guy asked why I didn’t use HIS photo at the top (to replace the ‘hot’ guy lounging in the sheets). Tee hee. I didn’t want to just ‘market’ my new book, so hoped this got some attention in a more subtle way. 🙂

  5. Oh look at your book! Congratulations! You must be so proud. Gosh, I now know what make a guy “hot”–thank you. Wrote a sex scene once for a book (unpublished) that I was writing and you should have seen the squirming! Haven’t tried it again. 🙂

  6. Great summary! That’s why we girls are so complicated to please – guys think they are in good shape if they are good-looking and/or manly. They forget how much we like to laugh, feel secure and have our hearts melted.

  7. If I’m just halfway to hot does it make me luke warrm? ( No that’s not the name of an actor my daughter adores, but a body temperature).? If you’d put Kind, sweet ot sensitive on there my score would definitely maybe have been higher. xx Hugs xxx

  8. I was clicking through some of your “top-rated” posts and came across this one. It was before I started following…. Anyhoo, I loved it and I have to agree. Now I want to read your book! Two of the sexiest things I find in a man is talent and intelligence. Mmm…. 🙂

    • THANK YOU – and thanks for stopping by here. I’m working right now on making Twin Desires available for softback too. But then, on to write a new book with more ‘hot’ men. 🙂
