I wrote my story about Bert and Bessie a while ago, and then found the perfect illustrator to color in the tale (and tail). So excited how it’s all come together, just like these two sparrows. 💚🐦💚

You know me well. Promotion is hard. Birds of Paradise has been a long time coming, but I am thrilled with the end result. The illustrations are sublime. The publisher is extremely supportive and helpful. My children’s book will be a 32-page hardback made out of love for the independent spirit in every child . . . and adult. Cover reveal within 2 weeks!! 🤗

Bert and Bessie are sparrows ‘birds apart’ from each other. One is timid and safe. The other is joyful yet reckless. They find a way to teach each other a timeless lesson through friendship and flight. 💕

Thanks for your wonderful support, Annika. I’ve been working on this children’s tale for a long time. The illustrator is magnificent and caught the spirt of my Bert and Bessie perfectly. The birds learn about themselves as they reach out to each other, and despite some difficulties, find freedom in friendship.

So hard for me to market my work…! But I’m in love with this children’s book about Bert and Bessie who encourage each other to explore the world despite bullies and thunderstorms. The illustrations are almost as beautiful as the sunset they fly through. My publisher (and beta readers) decided we needed to publish this as a hardback, which is what we’ll do …..March 31!
