    • Hi Annika. Snowing here now, but son is on the other coast where it’s much sunnier – and warmer! Thus, the memory keeps me warm. I know you’ll have an amazing time with your family this holiday season, with the extra excitement of publishing your book of short stories. Love & hugs to you. xoxo

  2. I was enchanted by your poem on Sally’s blog. A new format to me but the thoughts are eternal.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas 🎄 and I am sure it takes more walks to discuss all these deep issues with your son.
    Hugs 🤗

    • At this point of time, I think we ALL could use some long long walks to figure out the world, and its “issues,” Miriam. Yikes! 🙂 In the meantime, I hope you have a wonderful and happy holiday celebration. xo

  3. Loved the poem. I can just picture you walking with your son in the snow. Also, perfect endorsement for Birds of Paradise. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

  4. A perfect poem. I´ve had many walks in the snow with loved ones over the years. My fondest memories are waking with my dad after a large Christmas meal, in the snow, and just having him all to myself. Have a lovely time this Christmas, Pam. xo

    • YES, Darlene, that’s the thing. As cold and unforgiving as snow can be, it also brings strong glorious memories when we walk in that winter wonderland. If my poem brought you back to a special time, I’m a happy poet. ❤

    • Somehow our kids came to us as bundles of energy and non-stop need for lessons and love; now, we need to grab them from their busy ‘adult’ lives to take a walk with us – whether in snow or sun, fiercely cold or hot weather – to reconnect and feel the love. ❤

  5. Very beautiful and original poem, Pam! Merry Christmas to you and yours, from our “borrowed” house to yours, from the West Coast to the East. 🙂 Where about in the Boston area do you live?

    • No snow where you are (you lucky thing). 🙂 We are a little west of Boston near where ‘the shot heard round the world’ began our American revolution. I love the history here, and being close to the writing vibes of Louisa May Alcott, Hawthorne, Emerson, and of course, Thoreau.

  6. What a warm and lovely poem, Pam. It adds to the season’s beauty and reminds me of times when my own children were young. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and the happiest of holidays.

  7. Ah that’s really nice Pam. And clever. I’ve never come across a pantoum poem before, or certainly not recognised it. It certainly has a rhythmic effect which I’m sure is the intention. Happy Christmas.

  8. Pam, I like how you followed this form of poetry. I usually cannot stay within the circular, repetition forms.
I respect this warm, caring and fun relationship you and your son have together. 💕❄
I could picture you four around the fire, not wishing to leave the warmth. . . Choosing to have this lovely time in the silent, gently falling snow made me get good goosebumps! Have a wonderful rest of the holiday season and my goodness! Please stay safe and careful in this icy, dangerous sub-zero storm, dear friend. ✨🎆 Happy New Year wishes for you and yours!

    • Just saw this comment on my snowy walk. Happy New Year to you, Robin. The icy cold temps make walking – with or without snow – a bit of a challenge. But we’re expecting a big snow storm tomorrow with a rise in temps (up to the 20s!!) so I’m getting out my snow angel wings (ie, my arms, haha) and preparing to act like a child. Best way to get through the winter. Stay warm!!

  9. Hey Pam, Namaste 🙂

Hoping all is well with you. Really enjoyed the poem thank you…it left me moist eyed and gently stirred – I never had the type of loving relationship with my mum that you write about with such devoted pride and obvious affection: Your poem is full of tenderness and warmth: a wonderful contrast to the crisp coolness and cruel beauty of the wilderness. I wish I had had walks in the snow with my mum: maybe next life around things will be different.

I am a little late to leave Christmas best wishes (belated as they may be), but at least I’m early for New Year’s best wishes instead. Happy New Year!

    Love and Peace. Namaste :).

    • Happy New Year to you, Dewin, and thank you for your beautiful comments about my walk-in-the-snow poem. I realize mother/son, mother/child, relationships can be complicated for many. My son and I are quite different from each other, but his center is my heart, and my heart knows his center. Thus, on the rare occasions now that we have alone – for a walk or meal at a restaurant – I don’t know how to describe it – a light surrounds us. I wish you much light in this new year.

      • Happy New Year Pam! 🙂

How wonderful it must be for you both to share one light, one heart, and one Love. It does sound as if it is a relationship always alive, always loving and always special. The occasions you mention sound as if they are chosen with care perhaps as common denominators between whilst you enjoy your mother/son union and celebrate your independence. and individuality. I do like the sound of your illuminated meetings and know they will always be special.

Thank you for illumination and warmth: I like it when people are happy 🙂

I hope I shall have a light-filled year thank you: one bright and engaging and warming through and through. I wish the very same for you and yours too:)

        Love and Peace. Namaste 🙂
