Star bright star light set my broom aside
Let me walk upon the clouds, nothing under me
I need no lift, I need not ask for a flying ride
When creativity is my guide, I am true and free.
Let me walk upon the clouds, nothing under me
As I float I’ll write a poem, delicate yet rough
With creativity as my guide, I am true and free
Words are LIGHT, and gliding right, they become enough.
As I float I’ll write a poem, delicate yet rough
I need no lift, I need not ask for a flying ride
Words are LIGHT, and gliding right, they become enough
Star bright star light set my broom aside.
Beautiful

A lovely Halloween pantoum, Pam!
Enjoy your trip! 💙

I need a structure when I write a poem, and I find the pantoum very accessible. I probably should have mentioned what kind of poem it was in the title, since others didn’t notice. Oh well, a poem is a poem is a way to express ourselves – the glory of creativity and poetry!

You’re welcome. Yes, it doesn’t really matter if the reader doesn’t know the form, as long as they enjoy reading the poem!

THANKS, Amy. Sometimes when we write, it does seem as if we’re “in the clouds,” doesn’t it? Writing is a great way to escape, with broom or not. 🙂

Traveling is not easy these days, as you know. I kind of wish that I DID have a broom to get to the places I want to visit! Whatever, I’ll be writing in the clouds, and preparing to return to the blogosphere soon.

Merril says your bit of verse is a pantoum, so it probably is so since she’s in the know.
Our neighbors have displayed a tall purple witch attached to a black broom. Best guess the whole decoration is 10-15 feet tall. I’m thankful the house is on a cul-de-sac and not encroaching on my line of vision when I drive by. Happy Hallowe’en and enjoy your broom-less ride, which I interpret as a blog break. Yes?

Thanks to Merril for naming the poetic structure I used – I tagged it but I should have put it in the title. It’s a really fun way to write a poem (or at least I think so). “The witch” has gotten such a bad rep over the centuries, and truly undeserved. Why she’s become a symbol of this holiday is a mystery to me. Sorry about your neighborhood witch – hopefully she’ll disappear on Nov. 1! “Happy” Halloween and I’ll be back in the blogosphere in mid-November. ❤

You can see the witch with purple togs on my Instagram page.
On another note, I admire how sensibly you schedule your posts. I’m taking a wee breather too. Book writing and blog posting do take oodles of time, as you well know.
Kudos, Pam!

That is a big purple witch! Hope she’s down now. Yes I am scheduling posts every other week now. Not as intense! Hope the book is going well – you are inspiring me!!! 💜

Yes, witch is down and probably stored for next year. About my book: In the throes of early labor now. I remember your book, The Right Wrong Man. Though not a marriage memoir per se, you do explore the mysteries of man/woman relationships. Oy vey!

The most fascinating part of human nature – marriage! Your book may be at least 700 pages long, uh?? 🙂

My Inner Critic is raging now–why did I advertise a look-see into our marriage? OMG!
About the size, a much smaller volume, now about 150 pages + art and photos.

Yes, yes, yes. Some say there are only so many plots in the world, and that the same stories are told over and over again in tiny different ways. I disagree. I think our word/story combinations are endless. That’s the magic!

WP is so weird. I can’t stayed logged in on my computer or my phone. I have to log in every single time I comment or try to “like” something. It’s frustrating. Even if I am logged in on a post and have “liked” it, I have to log in again to leave a comment without having left the page. It’s so dumb! 🤦🏼♀️
