Go with the (spring) Snow!

blog-snow-bToday, four days past the middle of March, I waken to the dreaded four-letter word.

S N O W.

But I decide to shovel away my disgruntlement of another wintry day and to exercise outside No Matter What. Normally I dislike the cold and the fear of falling on icy roadways, but after three months of this weather, and after meditating my breaths into ACCEPTANCE, I choose to go with the flow. Digitalized!

family photos, digital, toddler, The old photos make me conscious of my age. I peer at the photo of my son at three years old,  laughing in pure abandon as he pulled on a cowboy hat. Where’d he ever get that hat? How’d I take that candid picture without a cell phone? Where’d my old camera go?

And next to the “cowboy” photo is one of me, reading to my daughter, six years old at the time. Did I really look that young? Back then, I thought I was old, almost 35! Continue reading

Oxen Mystic

golden retriever, best friend, dogI woke up in the middle of the night as sick as a dog. Wait. My dog never got this sick. Henry, my Golden, had the constitution of an ox and the compassion of a Mystic, so he  followed me from the bedroom as I raced to the bathroom.

I don’t remember what happened next, except when I awakened  I had a huge headache, an even bigger lump on my head, and someone breathing into my nose. Continue reading

Heart Beats

heartbeat, grandparenting, Pixabay, Apple watchI open my daughter’s refrigerator and frown. Hot dogs. Chicken nuggets. Left-over spaghetti. Root beer.

When I’d received my daughter’s desperate plea: “Can you come watch the kids? We have to go to a town meeting and the babysitter just bailed,” it was almost past my bedtime (kidding, kinda) – 7:00 p.m. My guy and I had just finished dinner and on a whim, I brought the leftovers. Continue reading
